Why Should I Join the NRA and RCEA?

by Ray Feroz, RCEA Founding President

There are four good reasons for professional counselors and educators to join NRA and RCEA:

1.    You are a partner in the collective voice of over 8,500 members of NRA and 1,200 members of the RCEA, to further legislative and policy decisions and actions that are in the best interest of our profession and those persons we serve.
2.    You have a voice in those decisions through membership and active involvement in your state chapter and this division.  You are in a position to contribute to the field, and to take a leadership role!  You have direct access to the RCEA leadership.
3.    You increase your knowledge through receiving publications such as Contemporary Rehab, The Journal of Rehabilitation, and The Rehabilitation Counselors and Educators Journal, your State Newsletter and other communications via e-mail, US Mail, the RCEA web site and member networks.  In addition, you will be invited to attend various conferences and professional development opportunities in person or via web-based telecons.  Finally, membership puts you in touch with great mentors, AND membership in a positive, specialty division such as RCEA also develops great mentors!
4.    You increase your network of contacts in the field of rehabilitation, whether local, state, regional and national.  This, together with your up-to-date professional knowledge, can be essential for career security in a rapidly changing workplace!

Membership has its privileges and if you are a rehabilitation counselor and/or educator it makes good sense to belong to the NRA & RCEA!
